by stitch.
Brenda’s distinctive paper lace begins with layers of machine-stitched paper. Washing, distressing and gently working the surface open it into an intricate, lace-like structure.
Handmade and recycled papers become light, tactile pieces that invite a closer look.
A curious eye.
A life of making.

Brenda Parsons
MSc · FRSA · FRGS · MSDC
Brenda Parsons is a paper, textile and mixed media artist with studio spaces in the UK and France. Her practice spans two-dimensional works, sculptural pieces and large installations.
Originally trained in geography and geology, she brings a fascination with place and culture to her work. Following a career in education, she studied textiles at East Berkshire College and Bucks New University.
Photography, collecting and sketchbooks feed her exploration of paper: its fragility, its structure and its capacity to hold a story.
